    Hippo Campus is an indie rock band from St. Paul, Minnesota. They are signed to Grand Jury Records in the United States and Transgressive Records in the UK. They have performed at South by Southwest, Lollapalooza, Red Rocks, Bonnaroo, Conan, Summerfest and Reading and Leeds. In November 2015, they played a sold out show at the iconic venue First Avenue. They have also played support shows for large-scale acts such as My Morning Jacket, Modest Mouse, The Mowgli's, Walk the Moon, Sylvan Esso and JR JR.

    In April 2016, Hippo Campus was announced as one of the bands selected to perform at the 2016 iteration of Rock the Garden. The band was also called one of NPR Music's favorite new artists of 2017. [1]

    Hippo Campus includes Jake Luppen (vocals/guitar), Nathan Stocker (guitar/vocals), Zach Sutton (bass) and Whistler Allen (drums/vocals) and DeCarlo Jackson. [2] They often performed under their stage names The Turntan, Stitches, Espo, and Beans respectively.[3] The band met at the Saint Paul Conservatory for Performing Artists where they all attended high school and many of Hippo Campus's members played in other bands (Blatant Youth/Whistle Kid; Danger, Will Robinson/Northern) before uniting under the Hippo Campus banner.

    Bashful Creatures and South EPs (2014–2016)

    On November 18, 2014, Hippo Campus independently released their first EP titled, Bashful Creatures.[4] They later signed with Grand Jury records, and re-released Bashful Creatures under their new label on February 24, 2015. The EP received airplay on local radio station The Current for the singles "Little Grace" and "Suicide Saturday". Hippo Campus have also done live sessions with WFUV, KCRW and KEXP. On December 26, 2015, they appeared on the nationally broadcast CBS This Morning broadcast on the CBS Television Network.

    On August 30, 2015, the band's song "The Halocline" was featured in the series finale of Falling Skies.

    In October 2015, Hippo Campus released their second EP, South. South came in at #15 on the Heatseekers Chart and #96 on the Current Digital Chart on Soundscan.

    Landmark (2016–2018)

    On October 11, 2016, the band revealed their new single "Boyish". Two weeks later, Hippo Campus revealed that their first full-length album Landmark would be available worldwide on February 24, 2017.[5] along with a supporting international tour.

    In 2015, Hippo Campus performed at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis as part of the school's homecoming celebration.

    In August 2018 Hipp Campus performed at Leeds and Reading Festival in the United Kingdom, this being their first festival in the UK

    Bambi (2018-present)

    The band's newest album Bambi was announced in August 2018 with the release of the singles "Bambi" and "Passenger". [6] It was released on September 28th, 2018. Hippo Campus are headlining their own tour from Fall 2018 into Winter 2019 across the United States and Europe. [7]

    In 2018, Hippo Campus performed at the University of Wisconsin River Falls as part of the school’s Finals Fest celebration along with Hangout Fest, Sasquatch Music Festival, Leeds Festival, and the Twin Cities' Super Big Block Party.[8]

    As part of the Me Too movement, Hippo Campus teamed up with the Women’s Foundation of Minnesota to help donate profits from their shows to their foundation.[10]
