Misharron Jamesha Allen (born December 7, 1996),[citation needed] [1][2] is an American rapper known professionally as Asian Da Brat (formerly known as Asian Doll).[3] A native of Dallas, Texas, at the age of 21 Allen became the first woman signed to Gucci Mane's 1017 Eskimo Records since its inception in 2010. [4][5]

Her career began with the release of Da Rise of Barbie Doll Gang Empire on December 16, 2015[6] and public beefs has contributed to greater attention on social media.[7] Other projects include Drippin in Glo (2016), Project Princess Vol. 1 (2016), Outtaspace (2017), Kill Bill, Vol. 1 (2017) Doll SZN, her eighth mixtape release Unfuccwitable (May 3, 2019).[8][9]

Asian Da Brat stands among a new generation of young women rappers basking in the limelight of Nicki Minaj and Cardi B in the rap game.[10] A series of rappers have taken up the moniker "Doll" which may reference the Barbie Doll persona developed by Minaj. She has been featured with PnB Rock, Rico Nasty and Bhad Bhabie.[11]

In attempt to distinguish herself from a pack of female rappers using the stage name Doll, Allen officially changed her name in 2019.[12] The name Asian Da Brat was supposedly a reference to the Atlanta-based veteran female rapper Shawntae Harris better known as Da Brat, whose 1994 studio album Funkdafied was the first platinum-certified record by a woman rapper.[13] In an April 2019 interview on Hot97, Allen explained that Da Brat was a reference to the brand of children's toys known as Bratz Dolls.[14]

In the past four years, Allen has put out eight mixtapes looking to gain more recognition for hip hop's leading voices of women.[15]
